It’s the height of summer and it is fabulously grey here wonderful in Ireland! But we can’t be too upset about it as it’s still lovely and warm, mild and most importantly dry…so yes it’s grey, but it’s still good! Grey and all of its many shades can be wonderful, especially in interiors…grey can be used to create elegant, sophisticated, warm and inviting interiors. Here are a few of my most recent favourites….

Brand new month, brand new blog post and a brand new business venture for me!! I haven’t written in a while as I’ve been a little preoccupied with this new business venture which I’m launching this week and I wanted you to be one of the first people to know about it
I’m still designing away don’t worry, but I am now also the very proud owner of a fabulous new online gift boutique, www.littlebowgifts.com! It’s like Christmas around at mine at the moment, I’m getting new deliveries of stock in every day, it’s so exciting!

Welcome to Ireland, Little Miss Sunshine. She was a little bit shy about coming out all week although we could all feel her there behind the clouds, kindly warming up our beautiful country. I’m delighted that she’s decided to show herself today and I’m really excited about having her around for the whole weekend!! In her honour here are a few sunshine inspired interiors…

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend whatever you get up to x

Anyone who hasn’t heard of Joseph, and has an appreciation for fabulous design is in for a treat!! I’ve been a serious fan of Joseph Walsh’s work for a good few years now and I had the immense pleasure of seeing some of his most recent collection in the flesh at The Interior Design and Art Fair in the RDS which was on this weekend. Joseph is from Riverstick, Co. Cork and not only did I get to see, feel and drool over his magnificent work, I also had the opportunity to listen to a lecture he gave on Friday afternoon, discussing his work, and the numerous high profile exhibitions he has recently taken part in and for which he is receiving serious acclaim in the US.

I just adore this coffee table! I read a comment about this table on another blog and it suggested that this table was environmentally unsound as a considerable amount of wood was wasted in order to create this piece!!! Seriously…I’d like to think that they must have been kidding, this is just exquisite!!
I don’t think I’d ever leave home if this was in my house. Though my dining table would get a bit of a shock as would be in service full time!! Could you imagine eating your dinner off of this…I don’t think so!!

Although I haven’t seen this dining table in the flesh I think it speaks for itself. The dining chair I have experienced first hand though, and what an experience! The chairs look beautiful, it almost looks like it is purely for decoration, but it is so ergonomically perfect it’s quite amazing. Two of the chairs where on display at the fair and when I sat into the chair I was so pleasantly surprised. There was a nice wide seat giving instant comfort and then the back of the chair which looks like a piece of fine art in itself subtly embraced my back, hugging it and giving it amazing comfort and support, pure genius!

Is it sunny outside or is it raining? You really wouldn’t know these days..all I know is this weather is making me want to curl up into a lovely armchair and keep warm…just in case! Which would you choose?

I love them all..I think I might need something a little bigger though….I’ll keep looking!!!

ou just never know what you might find when you skip from blog to blog, idilly through one link, onto the next, through that onto another…then you come across something brilliant and you don’t know how you got there, but your so glad to have discovered it and followed it’s trail. While browsing recently I came across a very talented girl Jessica Hische, she is a designer, typographer and illustrator. Asked to describer her design in one sentence she would say that “Jessica Hische’s work combines equal parts design, typography, illustration, brown sugar, and heavy cream.” I’m not entirely sure what she means by the last part but what I do know is that I love her work! I never would have given huge thought to the world of ‘type design’ but it’s fascinating, every letter is like a beautiful, unique individual piece of art.
ailydropcap.com, is a site that Jessica has set up where she posts a hand-crafted decorative initial cap every ‘working day’ of the week. These letters are available to anyone, as she says herself, for the ’enjoyment and for the beautification of blog posts everywhere’. She posts the letter every day and accompanies it with the code to use it on your blog. What a wonderful concept. Keep up the great work Jessica.

Ok so I’ll come clean and I did ‘rob’ the title from Ann Marie over at WhatSheWears.ie today…but with Spring in the air, the birds singing, rumours of it reaching 16 degrees in Dublin today…and the sun planning to stick around for the whole weekend…I just loved it, and thought I’d share some nautical themed interiors with you….and as the title suggests…they’re all fabulous!!! Have a great weekend x

No matter where you lived, if you woke up in a room like this, I’d imagine you could almost smell the seaside! White painted floorboards brighten a room completely and I’m pretty sure Ikea do a bed very like this so you could ‘live by the sea’ even on a modest budget.
You definitely wouldn’t want sticky little fingers around this dining table, I just love the simplicity and freshness of this look though, with the all essential injection of blue.

Simple navy borders on crisp white linen gives the instant elegance to this simple white interior, again so easy to achieve.

You don’t need to invest in expensive wallpaper to achieve this look, a little bit of patience, some masking tape, a spirit level and some paint and voila…Nautical Chic!

Once again I find myself intrigued and inspired by bottles of all things! You would never think it if you were walking through the aisles of the grocery store or ordering a bottle of wine in your local restaurant, but feast your eyes on these magnificent design creations and wonder at their beauty!!! Ok…so they aren’t earth shattering and going to change the world of design as we know it or anything…but I just love products that are well designed, some love and care has been given to the brand and it’s packaging, and so it commands the respect it deserves…or if it’s actually really awful….at least you have something pretty to look at on your shelf until it passes it’s use by date!!!

On a recent shopping trip with my lovely Mum, searching for the all important ‘Mother of the Groom’ outfit there was one thing that was for certain on the rails…purple is the new black! While I don’t think my Mum could really carry off this Givenchy number (or my future sister inlaw would be too impressed if she tried), when you see Zoe Saldana sporting this ensemble at the Oscars….you just know your going to see alot more shades of purple.

‘Purple’ is totally underestimated, it was once considered a mysterious color, associated with both nobility and spirituality …it is sometimes referred to as aubergine, violet, lavander, lilac, plum, puce, mauve, magenta, amethyst, wine, pomegranate, eggplant, mulberry…to name but a few. It’s the color of mourning for widows in Thailand, and also the favorite color of Egypt’s Cleopatra! Purple has been traditionally associated with royalty in many cultures and purple robes were worn by royalty and people of authority or high rank. The Purple Heart is a U.S. Military decoration given to soldiers wounded in battle. So I thought I’d share some interesting interiors…you guessed it…featuring my featured colour!!!

Hmmm..I just noticed that most of these images are bedrooms! Funny how one’s mind work…it really has been a long day

Richie McCusker over at Custard by Design had a great idea to write a little bit about himself and what he’s about in a recent blog post…and then he decided that he would feature other designers and share their skills and contacts with the rest of the world! Richie is a designer himself graduating with an honours degree and a bachelor of design in interior architecture from Napier University, Edinburgh. He’s worked in Edinburgh, Antrim and Dublin over the years and now finds himself in the US looking to continue his career there.

So if you’d like to read a little bit more about me, what I’m about….and my favourite part of the day…have a look here.
